Solidarity with Venezuela reiterated
Firm solidarity with the people and government of Venezuela was reiterated by Vietnamese people’s organizations at a public function held on February 26th in Hanoi. The event was co-sponsored by the Vietnam-Venezuela Friendship Association (VVFA) and the Venezuelan Embassy in Hanoi as part of the “Day of world action in solidarity with Venezuela” initiated by the World Peace Council.
Present were Nguyễn Thị Bình, former Vice-President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, President of the VPDF; Vũ Xuân Hồng, President of VUFO; Vũ Văn Hiền, President of the VVFA; and Jorge Rondon Uzcategui, Ambassador of Venezuela to Vietnam.
Also attending were leading office-bearers of the Vietnam Peace Committee, Vietnam Committee for Asian-African-Latin American Solidarity and Cooperation and other people’s organizations, researchers, and students from various learning institutions.
Addressing the event, VVFA President Vũ Văn Hiền expressed deep concern over the violent actions taken by opposition and hostile forces with a view to destabilization in Venezuela, and emphasized: “We express our firm solidarity with the Venezuelan people in their just revolution. The Vietnamese people are committed to do their utmost to consolidate and develop relations of friendship and cooperation between our two countries.” “We wish that stability and development will be back soon in Venezuela, and that the progressive government and people of Venezuela will find out an appropriate way for their country to advance along the path of socio-economic development charted out by the late President Hugo Chavez,” he said./.
