VPDF’s partnerships expanded, diversified

Over the past five years since its founding, the Vietnam Peace and Development Foundation has been able to build, expand and diversify a network of partner organizations in many countries and all continents, including political parties, non-governmental organizations, regional and international organizations.
The remark was made by Mr. Trần Đắc Lợi, then VPDF General Secretary, in a report to VPDF’s Second Convention in Hanoi last June.

VPDF – A Brief Introduction
The Vietnam Peace and Development Foundation (VPDF) was founded on April 9th, 2003.
A non-governmental organization working for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress, for equitable and sustainable development, it operates on the principles of non-profit, voluntariness, self-management, and self-accountability for its performance before the laws of Vietnam.
It works with organizations and individuals inside and outside Vietnam for sponsoring or joining activities in the fields of people-to-people diplomacy, research and information, and other economic, social and cultural activities related to issues of peace and development.
The VPDF’s organizational structure consists of the following:
- The Convention;
- The Council;
- The Board;
- The Secretariat;
- The Control Commission; and
- Functional bodies.
At the Third Convention held in Hanoi on May 30th, 2013, Mme Nguyễn Thị Bình, former Vice-President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, was re-elected President of the VPDF.
The Convention also elected six Vice-Presidents, a 42-member Council and an 18-member Board. The Council then elected a 3-member Control Commission, and appointed a General Secretary and a 7-member Secretariat.
