VPDF pamphlet on South China Sea issues published
A pamphlet highlighting Vietnam’s stand on various issues related to the South China Sea – known in Vietnam as the East Sea – has just come off the press, compiled by the VPDF and printed at the Giáo Dục (Education) Publishing House.
South-South People’s Solidarity Meetings

The booklet records the proceedings of a VPDF-hosted event called “South-South People’s Solidarity Meetings” held in Hanoi on September 21-24, 2007 and attended by invited guests and representatives of social movements and people’s organizations from 23 Asian, African and Latin American countries.
The event consisted in fact of a South–South Solidarity Co-ordination Meeting, a Conference on Promotion of People’s Alternatives, and a Workshop on “Agriculture under WTO”, plus a panel presentation reserved exclusively for Vietnam.
The booklet covers documents adopted at the Meetings, speeches and presentations made by participants.
They include the Welcoming Remarks by VPDF President Mme Nguyễn Thị Bình (full text), the Final Declaration (full text), a List of issues for alternative research, and a Summary Report on the event.
The presentations are:
- “Democracy, People’s Power and Social Movements: Learnings from Nepal” by Gorkan Bhatt (Conscious Media Forum, Nepal);
- “Global Hegemony, IMF and Bangladesh” by Anu Muhammad (Jahangimagar University, Bangladesh);
